About This Project
Gitako is a farm management system built with African smallholder farmers in mind. Its purpose is to digitize and streamline key agricultural operations — helping farmers plan, monitor, and optimize their farms from seed to harvest. Through intuitive dashboards and data-driven insights, Gitako empowers users to increase productivity, manage costs, and make smarter agronomic decisions.

My Role & Contribution
As Lead Software Engineer & Agritech Integrator, I designed and built major modules of Gitako, working closely with agronomists, extension agents, and farmer networks to translate domain needs into user-friendly tools. My responsibilities included:
Defining the system architecture and data flows
Building budgeting, activity planning, and yield estimation modules
Integrating modeling or agronomic recommendation APIs
Creating dashboards for farm metrics, alerts, and forecasts
Ensuring usability for low-connectivity environments (offline or mobile support)
Handling data management, validation, and security
Key Features & Capabilities
Farm Dashboard & Planning: Visualize farm plots, plan seasonal activities, track progress
Budget & Cost Management: Record inputs, track expenditures, forecast profitability
Crop Monitoring & Alerts: Track crop health metrics, issue warnings for pests, disease, or stress
Performance Analytics: Compare yields, cost per unit, growth trends over seasons
Offline / Sync Support: Local caching so users in areas with weak connectivity can still operate
Multi-channel interfaces: Web and mobile access for both farmers and extension agents
